Who We Are?

who we are smlIn July 2002, after 22 years with Andersen, eight as an Assurance Partner, we started our audit/accounting practice under Alberto R. Lázaro PSC, Certified Public Accountants and Business Advisors. We share facilities with Juan Alvarado and Juan Zaragoza (currently Puerto Rico Secretary of the Treasury), former partners in charge of Andersen's Tax Division, now operating under Alvarado Tax and Business Advisors LLC (formerly, Zaragoza Alvarado LLP), and Carlos R. Baralt, former principal in charge of Andersen’s litigation support and forensic accounting services, now operating under Carlos R. Baralt PSC. We have formed a strategic alliance to provide a full service solution in the audit/accounting, tax, litigation support and forensic accounting areas.

I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over 35 years of experience, a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), an Attorney-at-law and Public Notary admitted to practice by the Puerto Rico Supreme Courts and admitted to practice by the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico and a FINRA Dispute Resolution Arbitrator.

I am a member of the Puerto Rico Society of Certified Public Accountants (PRSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). At the PRSCPA I have served as a member of the AICPA Quality Peer Review Program Committee overseeing compliance of the peer review process within the guidelines of the AICPA, as an ad-hoc member of the Legislation Committee monitoring legislation on topics related to fiscal, economic, tax and professional matters and as a member of the CPA/Attorney Committee. I am also a member of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA), the Chartered Institute of management Accountants (CIMA), the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Phi Alpha Delta, a professional service organization composed of pre-law students, law students, legal educators, attorneys, judges, and government officials.
